Recently there has been correspondence in The Times about the problems of road tax not being able to be purchased before the 15 th of the month. And what happens if you are away until after the end of the month.

Do you get the Government's fine for not renewing?

In addition, has anybody ever tried to do business at a Post Office on the first day of the month amongst the hoards of people queuing to buy road tax? It's impossible!

Surely a nice simple on-line solution, where you could buy your tax disc on-line for delivery on the requisite date by recorded delivery would solve both problems?

Isn’t this the same as buying your airline ticket for EasyGo or whatever?

And anyway why can’t they spread the load by making tax discs run from any day of the month?
