The interest in browser technology started because a bookmaker wanted to watch several pages of competitors odds at the same time.
This led to the Daisy Multiple Browser, which could show several pre-defined pages and automatically refresh them.
Two web pages are shown here split horizontally. There is also an optional help window at the right, which can be hidden as required.
Note the buttons at the top of the display, which are used to switch between the various web pages.
In addition several specialist browsers have been developed for customers.
The irony is that the US Army has been negotiating for the Multiple Browser for Iraq. Perhaps they haven't completed the order as the software was developed for bookmakers. That may be too close for the USA's attitude to online gambling.
